But first, Sean’s Text message: “Sori, I couldnt make it up wid u on Sat. maybe we should resched?”

That was Sunday and so far, no text from him. He could be very busy-or maybe this undefined relationship is just going nowhere.

PLUS, I have to get What Happened In Bigfish out of my system. Had to go there two weeks ago, Afterwards, I had a much-needed drink at one of those candle-lit low VIP Tables.

“Hey, Angela, its that you?”

It was James, an old High School Friend. Crush ng Bayan Circa 2004. “You look great! As in!” Tall, ripped and with such a dazzling smile, he looked more gorgeous than ever-and he was looking at me over appreciately.

I was extremely flattered. Before, he never paid attention to me. Now, he plopped down beside me on the sofa and we were talking. More drinks came. He stroked my arm. Suddenly, he was very very very close. He was nuzzling my ear. In my tipsy state, it rfelt really really good.

But then, I pulled away. “Uh-sorry” I looked at James in alarm. “Sige, sorry I-I have to go!”

Humiliating, I know. But then again, should I have just given in? Wala lang naman kami ni Sean db?

Convo topics were mostly office chismis and stories from his department, marketing. However, something really revealing happened:

“Here you go, its my treat” C***** slid the tray with two steaming cappucinos on the table in front of me.

“Ha?” I fumbled for my wallet for some cash. “No, here-”

“Marcus waved me off, saying, “Don’t worry, malakas ka sa ‘kin!”

I swear, I practically GLOWED.

“Uh-Oh” C*****’s tone suddenly took on a seriously panocky tone.

“My Ex,” C***** croaked out, grabbing the promo card stand on the table and hiding behind it. A pretty, long-haired girl had just entered the cafe.

Awkward moment! for both of us, I  mean, Obviously, he was still affected. The reason for their break-up?

“She couldn’t understand how I really needed to devote time to my work,” he told me with a big sigh, after she had left-thankfully without catching sight of him. “But after my dad passed away, I’m the only one my family’s counting on to contribute at home.”

I nodded, sympathetically. How very noble-I was more drawn to him than ever. Now, if only I wouldnt feel so insecure.

Still, J***’s not texting me…..

One problem: No ONE’s made a move on me-yet. It seems that while I’ve been recovering, all BF-Potential Pinoy guys have been busy HOOKING UP.

Ack! Maybe I should go out more. Maybe I should look around more…like in the MRT or the next hallway?

Ugh. I have to admit that I have a growing crush with J***, A guy I met at my most embarrasing circumstance. We had a few drinks, and I sat beside him at our inuman, he was less chatty, but still managed to make me feel at ease instead of OP. Actually, ang Bait bait nya and very Gentleman xa!

Okay, so for a week after that, we’ve been texting (My term, not his), but its been purely platonic. At least, from his body language at the time we first met, and the way he texted me afterwards.

What does it mean to lose your virginity?

It is an interesting question: what does it mean to lose your virginity?

In the strictest term; you are a virgin until you’ve had sexual intercourse with the member of the opposite sex. But this definition leaves a lot of people out of the loop. While the social policy makers look to redefine marriage to include same sex partnerships, maybe it is time we also revisited what it means to be a virgin.

When we think of virgins, we think of “white wedding innocents” who define sex as a synonym for gender. But the fact is, the standard definition of virginity lets you get away with having a lot of different kinds of sex was still being able to call yourself a virgin. In theory, under the traditional definition of virginity, someone who is homosexual can have sex every day and still be a virgin. Someone who has oral sex regularly is also still a virgin. Does that really make sense? Something is a miss!

The whole narrow definition of virginity is in desperate need of a rewrite. Who better to do it than the first generation of new millennium teens? What does “losing your virginity” mean to you? Is it a state of mind or a specific act? Is it something that can be taken from you, or does it only count if you willingly give it away? When does “fooling around” end and “having sex” begin?

When considering “the new definition”, think about these situations and ask yourself how they fit in to the meaning of virginity.

• Is someone who is raped or molested no longer a virgin?
• Is actual intercourse the only act that counts when determining ones virginity?
• If you willingly engage in other intimate sexual acts but do not have intercourse, is it fair to still consider yourself a virgin?
• How would you define losing your virginity if you were/are homosexual or bisexual?
• Is being a virgin based on your feelings, what you do, or is it a combination of both?
• Is there an emotional component to losing your virginity, meaning if you have sex but don’t feel anything is different about you, does it count?
• Is the current definition of virginity, and all the social stigma attached to it, biased toward girls? Is this right?
• Does the current definition of virginity exclude homosexuals? Is this right?
• Is virginity subjective (based on how the individual views themselves and what they do) or objective (how the situation is viewed by others on the outside)?

Formulate a definition and then share it with others, let’s see what we can come up with.

well, I indeed, we are living in a so-so”conservative” nation (ehem, Catholic) and many people say that its divine, sacred—-crap, but look outside you house and you will see lots of young couple with kids and lots of couple doing it outside the belt of “wedding”-not to mention the kind of discrimination crap the young women who are no longer a virgin undergoes….

Lets say… can we even tell if a women isnt a virgin anymore?
